Biography

The Hon. Eran Marie Bermudez is a judge for the Imperial County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. She filled the vacancy created by the appointment of the Hon. Ruth Bermudez Montenegro to U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District. Judge Montenegro is her sister.

Bermudez is a registered Democrat.

She received her B.A. from the University of California, Irvine in 2002. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2005.

Prior to her appointment to the bench, Bermudez had worked as a complaint resolution officer in the Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination at the University of California, San Diego since 2016.

Before joining UC San Diego, Bermudez was in private practice. She worked as an associate for the law firm Best, Best, and Krieger LLP from 2005 until becoming a partner at Garcia, Hernandez, Sawhney, and Bermudez LLP in 2011. While at Garcia et al. she practiced alongside her other sister Nadia P. Bermudez.

Her memberships have included the San Diego County Bar Association, the La Raza Lawyers Association of California, and the Lawyers Club of San Diego.
