The Hon. Efren N. Iglesia is a judge for the Monterey County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2007.
He is a registered Republican.
Judge Iglesia received his B.A. from Fresno Pacific University. He went on to earn his J.D. from San Joaquin College of Law in 1976.
He began his legal career in private practice, joining the firm Gendron and Gendron, where he practiced for three years.
Then, in 1979, Iglesia joined the Imperial County Counsel's Office, where he worked as an assistant county counsel until 1983. He then worked for the Monterey County Counsel's Office, where he would be named a senior deputy county counsel. He was serving in that capacity at the time of his appointment to the Superior Court in 2007.
During his tenure on the bench, Judge Iglesia has presided in the Misdemeanor Trial Department.
He has served on the board of trustees for the Monterey College of Law.
Judge Iglesia was born in Camalig, Albay in the Philippines. After attending college briefly there, he immigrated to the United States in 1971 to escape the impending martial law that was declared in the Philippines a short time later.
