The Hon. Edward P. McLean (Ret.) was a judge for the 4th Judicial District Court of Montana. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Ted Schwinden in 1989. McLean retired on May 1, 2015.
The 4th Judicial District includes Mineral and Missoula Counties.
Prior to his appointment, he worked as the chief criminal deputy county attorney in Missoula County since 1973. McLean also briefly worked as a private practice attorney (1973 to 1974).
He received a B.S. in business from the University of Montana. McLean then completed a J.D. at the University of Montana, Alexander Blewett III School of Law, in 1973.
He was born in Anaconda, Montana. McLean and his wife, Sandy, have three children.
