Hon. Edward M. Marsico, Jr. is a judge for the Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was elected to the bench on November 7, 2017.
Marsico received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1985. He went on to complete a J.D. at Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson Law in 1988.
After graduating from law school, Marsico began his legal career as an assistant district attorney with the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office. During his tenure in that position, he handled approximately 100 jury trials, appeared in hundreds of non-jury proceedings, and conducted several homicide prosecutions and drug prosecutions. Marsico also supervised the Dauphin County Drug Task Force.
Then, in 2000, he became the Dauphin County District Attorney. Marsico served in the position until 2018, holding the distinction of being the longest-serving District Attorney in the county’s history. As such, he was credited with implementing a Drug and Veterans Court, creating the Dauphin County Crimewatch website, and starting the Child Abduction Response Team, along with managing his administrative duties.
Marsico also taught as an adjunct professor at Widener University, Delaware Law School and Harrisburg Area Community College.
His memberships have included the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association (past president), the Notre Dame Club of Harrisburg, and the Dauphin County Bar Association, where he was a past president of the Young Lawyers Division.
Marsico received the Distinguished Faculty Award from the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Institute, the Linda K.M. Ludgate CJAB Excellence in Leadership Award, and the Children’s Hero Award from the Children’s Resource Center.
He and his wife, Jodi, have four sons. At the time of his election, they resided in Lower Paxton Township.
Marsico is registered as a Republican.
