Biography

The Hon. Duane C. Dougherty is a judge for the 4th Judicial District Court of Nebraska in Douglas County. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Dave Heineman in 2011.


Prior to his appointment, Dougherty was a partner at Koukol, Johnson & Dougherty in Omaha since 2010. He entered private practice in 1987 and went on to practice at Stave, Coffey, Swenson, Schatz & Dougherty (1992 to 2006) and Engdahl, Koukol, Johnson & Dougherty (2008 to 2010).


Dougherty earned a B.A. in accounting from Creighton University in 1984. He then completed a J.D. at Creighton University School of Law in 1987.


His memberships include the Nebraska State Bar Association and the Omaha Bar Association.


Dougherty has also been involved with the Boy Scouts of America and the St. Vincent de Paul Men’s Club. In addition, he served as a volunteer judge for local high school activities and a volunteer coach for local youth sports.
