Hon. Donna F. May (Ret.) was the Chief Judge for the Allegany County Orphans’ Court in Maryland. She was appointed to the position by Governor Larry Hogan in 2003. May retired on December 31, 2021, holding the distinction of being the longest-serving Orphans’ Court judge in Maryland.
She first joined the county’s Orphans’ Court after being elected to the bench in 1986.
Prior to joining the judiciary, May was a housewife and former secretary to the Cumberland Moose Lodge administrator.
She attended Fort Hill High School (1957) in Cumberland, Maryland, and Catherman’s Business School.
She held a membership with the Maryland Association of Judges of the Orphans’ Court.
May, a Republican, is a lifelong resident of Allegany County. She and her husband, Ronald May, have two children, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
