Biography

The Hon. Donna Bothwell is a judge for the 4th Judicial District Court of Iowa. She was appointed to the seat by Governor Kim Reynolds in June 2024, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Jeffrey L. Larson.


The 4th Judicial District includes the Audobon, Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby counties. Bothwell was first appointed to serve as an associate judge for the 4th Judicial District in 2022.


She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado in 2002. Bothwell then completed a J.D. at Drake University Law School in 2005.


Early in her legal career, she worked as an attorney in the Council Bluff office of Iowa Legal Aid before establishing her own law firm in 2015.


Her memberships include the Iowa Organization of Women Attorneys and the Iowa State Bar Association.
