The Hon. Donald W. Hebert (deceased) is a former judge for the 27th Judicial District Court of Louisiana in St. Landry Parish. He was elected to the bench in 1999. Hebert passed away in office on July 9, 2014.
He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1966. Hebert then completed a J.D. at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, in 1977.
He began his legal career in private practice in St. Landry Parish, where he remained until his election to the bench.
Hebert was a founding member of Parents Against Drug Dealers and was involved with the St. Landry Parish Community Action Agency, the United Giver’s Fund, the St. Landry Parish Heart Association, the St. Landry Parish Scholarship Committee, the St. Landry Parish Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, and the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association.
He attended Opelousas High School. Hebert served for four years in the United States Navy before attending university.
Hebert is survived by his wife, Paula, and their son, Donnie.
He was a lifelong Democrat.
