The Hon. Dianne Alexander is a judge for the First City Court of Orleans Parish in Louisiana. She was elected to the bench in March 2024.
The First City Court includes the Eastbank of Orleans Parish.
Alexander received a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from Southern University in 1993. She then completed a J.D. at Loyola University, New Orleans College of Law, in 1999.
Over the course of her legal career, Alexander was an assistant city attorney in the Housing Unit of the City of New Orleans Law Department; a staff attorney and research attorney for the Louisiana 4th Circuit Court of Appeal; an associate at the Rodney Law Firm, LLC; a crisis counselor for Louisiana Spirit; a civil assistant district attorney in the Child Support Division with the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office (2010 to 2012); assistant judicial administrator for the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court; and general counsel for the Louisiana Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors.
She was also the attorney for Character and Fitness for the Louisiana Supreme Court’s Committee on Bar Admission.
Alexander has volunteered her time with the H.O.N.O.R. Foundation, a local neighborhood effort to maintain the natural beauty of New Orleans East.
A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, she has one son.
Alexander is registered as a Democrat.
