Hon. Diane D’Agostini is a judge for the Forty-Eighth District Court of Michigan in Oakland County. She was elected to the bench in 2000.
During her judicial tenure, D’Agostini has presided over criminal, civil, landlord/tenant, and traffic cases. She also served four terms as Chief Judge of the Forty-Eighth District Court, a position to which she was appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court. D’Agostini is credited with forming a program for children called, “Order in the Court,” which allows fourth graders to come to court to learn about the law, as well as developing the court’s Hybrid DWI/Drug Treatment Court.
Prior to her election, she spent nine years as an assistant prosecutor with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney in Oakland County.
D’Agostini received a B.A. in journalism from Wayne State University in 1984. She then appeared in several local magazines before completing a J.D. at Detroit College of Law in 1991. D’Agostini also continued her legal studies at Oxford University in England.
She has been a mentor for the Women of Tomorrow Mentoring Program.
D'Agostini received the Esteemed Woman award from the Gary Burnstein Community Health Clinic (2016), the Excellence in Women’s Leadership/Public Service Award from MEA TV/Radio, the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Chaldean/American Bar Association (2009), and the Domestic Violence Prevention Award from the Oakland County Coordinating Council Against Domestic Violence.
She was also named the Distinguished Alumna of Mercy High School (2016), Wonder Woman by the Women Officials Network (2019), and the Timeless Hope Honoree by the United Community Family Services (2020).
