The Hon. Derrick F. Dash is a magistrate for the Orangeburg County Magistrate Court in South Carolina. He joined the bench in 1997.
The civil cases heard in magistrate court include eviction/notice to quit, summons and complaint lawsuits of $7500 or less, restraining orders, and claim and delivery actions. Magistrates also hear criminal and traffic cases, issue warrants and set bonds, and hold preliminary hearings and transfer cases for Orangeburg County.
Dash has served as the chief magistrate in Orangeburg County and as supervisor of the county’s Central Traffic Court and Preliminary Court.
He is a member of the Chief Justice’s Advisory Board and is vice president of the South Carolina Summary Court Judges Association. His other memberships include the South Carolina Judges Association, the National Judges Association, the American Judges Association, SCEA, and NEA.
Dash attends Andrew Chapel Baptist Church and is a member of the Olive Grove Masonic Lodge #477.
