Biography

The Hon. Debbra K. Halford is a chancellor for the 4th Chancery Court District of Mississippi. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Haley Barbour in 2005.


The 4th Chancery District encompasses Amite, Franklin, Pike, and Walthall Counties.


Prior to her appointment, Halford was the County Prosecutor for Franklin County. She also spent time as a judge for the Brude Municipal Court.


Halford earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from Mississippi State University in 1983. She then completed a J.D. at Mississippi College School of Law in 1986.


She is licensed to practice in Mississippi (1986), the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.
