The Hon. Dawn Moody is a district judge for the Oklahoma Fourteenth Judicial District. She was elected to the bench after the general election on November 6, 2018 was canceled.
Prior to her appointment, Moody was a special judge for the Tulsa County District Court, a position to which she was named in 2009. Before that, she spent two years as a judicial referee for the Tulsa County District Court, where she handled parenting plan conferences, drug court initial appearances, DUI court reviews, and juror financial hardship hearings.
Moody earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tulsa. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Tulsa College of Law.
After graduating from law school, Moody began her legal career as an assistant public defender with the Tulsa County Public Defender’s Office. During her tenure there, she was assigned to a juvenile delinquent docket and a felony trial docket. Then, in 2002, Moody entered into private practice, handling criminal defense matters alongside her father, Dan Kramer.
Moody was born in Riverside, California. She lived in California, Florida, and New Mexico before settling in Tulsa, where she attended Cascia Hall Preparatory School. Her husband, Chad Moody, has served as an assistant district attorney for the Tulsa County Office of the District Attorney. When not presiding over legal proceedings, Moody enjoys cooking, baking, and spending time with her children and black lab.
