Judge David L. Bolander: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. David L. Bolander is a circuit judge for the 5th Judicial Circuit Court (Division 2) of Missouri. He was elected to the bench in 2016.

The 5th Judicial Circuit Court includes Andrew and Buchanan Counties.

Bolander presides over custody, paternity, divorce, and probate matters, as well as civil cases with claims over $25,000 and some felony criminal matters.

Prior to his election, he had managed his own private practice in St. Joseph since beginning his legal career, and he also served as a substitute municipal judge for the City of St. Joseph. His areas of practice included civil matters with an emphasis on legal issues involving families and children.

Bolander received a B.A. in history from Eastern University in 1992. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1997.

Bolander and his wife, Sue, have two children.

He is registered as a Republican.
