The Hon. David B. Debenham (Ret.) was a judge for the 3rd Judicial District Court of Kansas in Shawnee County. He was appointed to the bench in 2008. Debenham retired on June 14, 2022.
Prior to his appointment, he spent twenty-eight years employed in the public sector, including as a deputy attorney general and a deputy district attorney with the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office.
Debenham received a bachelor’s degree from Bethany College. He then completed a J.D. at Washburn University School of Law.
He also completed a National College of District Attorneys Career Prosecutor course in addition to serving there as a faculty advisor. Debenham was a past director and officer of the Kansas County and District Attorneys Association and sat on the Board of Editors for the Kansas Prosecutor magazine. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association in 2008.
His other memberships include the Topeka Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, and the Kansas District Judges Association.
Debenham has three grown daughters.
