The Hon. David B. Caddell, Jr., is a judge for the 15th Judicial District Court of Virginia. He was elected to the bench by the Virginia General Assembly in 2016.
The 15th Judicial District encompasses Fredericksburg and Caroline, Essex, Hanover, King George, Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Westmoreland Counties.
Prior to his election, Caddell was a partner at Caddell Weiland in Richmond, a law firm he joined in 2014. Before that, he spent time as an attorney at Caddell Nelson & Reibach (2010 to 2014).
Caddell earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Northern Kentucky University. He then completed a J.D. at Northern Kentucky University, Salmon P. Chase College of Law, in 2005. He is licensed to practice in Kentucky (2005) and Virginia (2007).
After graduating from law school, Caddell began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Gregory M. Bartlett of the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Kentucky. He served in that capacity until 2006, at which time he was hired as an assistant commonwealth’s attorney for the Hanover County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
His memberships have included the Virginia Bar Association, the Hanover County Bar Association, and the Kentucky Bar Association.
