The Hon. Daryl R. Fansler (Ret.) is a former chancellor for Part II of the 6th Judicial District Chancery Court of Tennessee in Knox County. He was elected to the bench in 1998. Fansler retired in 2014.
Prior to his judicial career, he was in private practice since 1983. During that time, he worked as a trial attorney and civil mediator. Fansler was designated a Rule 31 Mediator by the Tennessee Supreme Court in 1997 and later served on the mediation panel for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee (1994 to 1998).
He received a bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University in 1974. Fansler then completed a J.D. at the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1982.
His memberships include the Knoxville Bar Association, the Hamilton Burnette American Inn of Court, and the Tennessee Bar Association. Fansler is also a Fellow of the Knoxville and Tennessee Bar Foundations.
Fansler was an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law and Lincoln Memorial University, Duncan School of Law. His subjects included Pre-Trial Litigation and Trial Advocacy.
He is a past vice-chair of the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army, Knoxville Area Command, and past chair of the Board of Directors of the Museum of Appalachia.
Following his retirement, Fansler returned to private practice with a focus on alternative dispute resolution.
Fansler is registered as a Democrat.
