Hon. Daniel S. El-Dweek is a judge for the Northwest Judicial District of North Dakota. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jack Dalrymple in 2015, filling the vacancy of a newly-created position.
The Northwest Judicial District includes Divide, McKenzie, and Williams Counties.
Prior to his appointment, El-Dweek was the supervising attorney with the Williston Public Defender’s Office, having served in that capacity since 2013. Before that, he was a staff attorney at Regional Native Public Defense Corporation in White Earth, Minnesota (2010 to 2013), and a managing attorney at Dakota Plains Legal Services (2006 to 2010) in Fort Thompson, South Dakota.
El-Dweek received a B.S. in public administration from the University of North Dakota in 2003. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2006.
He was admitted to practice in South Dakota (2006), the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota (2007), Minnesota (2011), and North Dakota (2013).
