Hon. Daniel R. Mumford is an associate judge for the Worcester County District Court (District 2) in Maryland. He joined the bench in 2005.
Prior to beginning his judicial career, Mumford worked for ten years as a deputy state’s attorney with the Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office (1995 to 2005). He was a former assistant state’s attorney there from 1984 to 1985.
Over the course of his legal career, Mumford was also an attorney with the Worcester County Shoreline Commission (1978 to 2002), having served on the Ocean City Board of Wardens (1984 to 2002) and the Ocean City Board of Adjustments and Appeals (1985 to 1989). In addition, he managed his own private solo practice for seven years beginning in 1978.
Mumford received a B.A. in economics from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1974. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law in 1976.
After graduating from law school, Mumford began his legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. Daniel T. Prettyman, former Chief Judge of the Worcester County Circuit Court (1976 to 1978).
His memberships have included the Maryland State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Worcester County Bar Association (past president), and the Maryland State’s Attorneys’ Association.
Mumford is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ocean City, where he was a former president and member of the Board of Trustees.
He was born in Salisbury, Maryland.
