Hon. Daniel K. McCarthy (Ret.) was a judge for the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Tom Wolf in June 2016. His term concluded in January 2018.

Prior to his appointment, he was Lehigh County’s Director of Administration, a position he held since 2014. His legal career also included working as a private practice attorney for thirty-five years with a concentration in real estate law, municipal law, land use and zoning, estate planning and administration, business collections, and commercial litigation.
Additionally, McCarthy acted as a city solicitor and assistant city solicitor to the City of Allentown, solicitor to the South Whitehall Township Authority, Northampton County assistant public defender, special counsel to the Allentown Fire Civil Service Commission and the Allentown Police Civil Service Commission.

After leaving the bench, he joined Davison & McCarthy, where his areas of practice included business and commercial law, debt collection, estate planning and administration, civil litigation, personal injury, municipal law, real estate zoning and planning, and land use development.
In 2018, McCarthy was nominated by Mayor Ed Pawlowski, former mayor of Allentown, to serve as city solicitor of Allentown, though his time there would be brief. He held the position for three months.
The oldest of seven children, McCarthy was born in Morristown, New Jersey. His family moved to Pennsylvania when he was four years old. Growing up, his father worked for Bell Laboratories and Western Electric at the Allentown Works, and his mom worked at Sarco Manufacturing Company in Allentown.
