Judge Dallas S. Holmes - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Dallas S. Holmes (Ret.) served as a judge for the Riverside County Superior Court in California. Holmes was appointed to the bench by former Governor Pete Wilson in 1997, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. James Ward to the California Court of Appeal. He retired in 2007.

Holmes earned a bachelor’s degree from Pomona College in 1962. He then completed a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (1964) and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (1967).

After graduating from law school, Holmes entered into private practice. He started as an associate at Best Best & Krieger, rising through the ranks to become a partner in 1974.

His memberships have included the Judicial Council of California, the California State Bar Board of Governors, and the San Mateo County Bar Association. He also sat on the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation.
