The Hon. D. Marty Lasley is a judge for the Soddy-Daisy Municipal Court in Tennessee. He was elected to the bench on August 2, 2012.
Over the course of his judicial career, Lasley has presided as a special judge for the Hamilton County General Sessions Court. In addition to his judicial service, he maintains his own private practice.
Prior to his election, Lasley was a member of Nelson, McMahan & Noblett, a law firm he joined in 2003. He supplemented his practice with service as an assistant city attorney for the City of Chattanooga. Before that, he was the executive administrative assistant for the Mayor of Hamilton County (1996 to 2002).
Lasley earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, history, and philosophy from Carson-Newman College in 1982. He then completed a J.D. at Vanderbilt Law School in 1987. He is licensed to practice in Tennessee (1987).
After graduating from law school, Lasley began his legal career as an associate at Brown, Dobson, Burnette & Kesler in Chattanooga. He handled bankruptcy and employment law matters with the firm until 1988, at which time he opened his own private practice as a sole practitioner.
His memberships have included the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners. He has also been involved with the Boards of Directors of First Things First, Front Porch Alliance, the Tennessee Baptist Convention, and the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library, and he has served on the Soddy-Daisy Chamber of Commerce.
Raised in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, Lasley graduated from Soddy-Daisy High School. He has attended Stuart Heights Baptist Church and Red Bank Baptist Church.
He is registered as a Republican.
