Judge Craig Kellison: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Craig Kellison (Ret.) is a former magistrate for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. He was appointed to a part-time position in 1988 and offered a full-time role in 2004. Kellison retired on September 1, 2018.


He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and computer science from the University of Nevada in 1972. Kellison then completed a J.D. at Gonzaga University School of Law in 1976.


After graduating from law school, he began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Bruce Thompson with the United States District Court in Nevada. Then, in 1978, Kellison entered private practice, including as a partner at Kellison & Cady, P.C. and at his own law firm, the Law Offices of Craig Kellison. In addition to his practice, he was a hearing officer for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (1995) and a temporary administrative law judge in California.
