Judge Christopher J. Coschignano: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Christopher J. Coschignano is a judge on the Nassau County District Court in the 10th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench on November 3, 2020.


Coschignano earned a B.S. from St. John’s University in 1985. He then completed a J.D. at Touro University, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, in 1990. He was licensed to practice in New York (1990).


After graduating from law school, Coschignano opened his own private practice as a sole practitioner. He worked in that capacity until 2006, at which time he became a partner at Jaspan Schlesinger. Then, in 2010, he joined Sahn Ward Coschignano in Uniondale.


His memberships have included the American Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, the East Norwich Civic Association, the Knights of Columbus, the Italian Club of Oyster Bay, the North Shore Boys and Girls Club, and the Residents for a More Beautiful Syosset. He also served as a member of the Oyster Bay Town Board, where he played an instrumental role in the formation of the Syosset Downtown Revitalization Committee.


He was a resident of Muttontown, New York, at the time of his election. He and his wife, Elisabetta, have three children. When not presiding over legal proceedings, he is an usher at St. Edward Confessor Church.
