The Hon. Christopher J. Boudreaux is a judge for the 17th Judicial District Court of Louisiana. He was elected to the bench on November 4, 2014, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Ashly Bruce Simpson.
The 17th Judicial District encompasses Lafourche Parish.
Prior to his election, Boudreaux was the Chief Public Defender for the 17th Judicial District, a position to which he was named in 2007. He also handled family, real estate, banking, collection, succession, personal injury, workers’ compensation, and criminal defense matters as a sole practitioner in his own private practice, supplementing his practice with service as an assistant city attorney for the City of Thibodaux.
Boudreaux earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1983. He then completed a J.D. at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, in 1986. He is licensed to practice in Louisiana (1986).
After graduating from law school, Boudreaux began his legal career as a research attorney for the Hon. Walter I. Lanier and the Hon. Louis J. Watkins of the Louisiana 1st Circuit Court of Appeal. He served in that capacity for two years, eventually leaving to enter into private practice.
His memberships have included the Thibodaux Kiwanis Club, the St. Charles Volunteer Fire Department, and the Thibodaux Jaycees. He has also been involved with the Lafourche Parish District Court Improvement Committee, and he has served on the Board of Directors of the Creole Classic Charity Fishing Rodeo.
He is a recipient of the Children’s Law Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association (2011).
Born and raised in Thibodaux, Louisiana, Boudreaux graduated from E.D. White Catholic High School.
He is registered as a Republican.
