Biography

The Hon. Christopher D. Heagerty is a chancellor for the 6th Judicial District Chancery Court of Tennessee in Knox County. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Bill Lee in 2021, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Michael W. Moyers.


Prior to his appointment, Heagerty worked in private practice, including at his own law firm. As a litigation attorney, he represented clients primarily in the Knox County Chancery Court.


Heagerty received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1988. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1994. While a law student, Heagerty completed a clerkship at Hodges, Doughty & Carson in Knoxville.
