Biography

The Hon. Christopher A. Antcliff (Ret.) served as a justice for Place 2 of the 8th Court of Appeals of Texas. Antcliff was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Perry on October 12, 2011. He resigned at the conclusion of his term on December 31, 2012.


Prior to his appointment, Antcliff sat as a judge on the 168th District Court of Texas (2008 to 2010) and the 448th District Court of Texas (2007 to 2008).


Antcliff earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas Tech University in 1992. He then completed a J.D. at Texas Tech University School of Law in 1995. He was licensed to practice in Texas (1995).


After graduating from law school, Antcliff began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. David Briones of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. He served in that capacity until 1997, at which time he entered into private practice, representing individuals and business as plaintiffs and defendants in civil rights, contract, tort, insurance, personal injury, environmental, banking, water rights, and labor and employment matters.


His memberships have included the El Paso Bar Association, the Texas Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, the Federal Bar Association, the Texas Bar Foundation, the American Bar Association, and the George A. McAlmon American Inn of Court. He has also been involved with the Rotary Club of El Paso, and he has served on the Public Service Board of the El Paso Water Utilities and the boards of directors of Amigo Airsho and St. Luke Catholic Church.


He is a recipient of the Mediator of the Year Award from the El Paso Bar Association (2013) and the Outstanding Jurist Award from the El Paso Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (2010).


Raised in El Paso, Texas, Antcliff attended Austin High School. He and his wife, Linda, have three children.


He is registered as a Republican.
