The Hon. Christine Underwood is a judge for the 22A Judicial District Court of North Carolina. She was elected to the bench in 2008 and re-elected in 2012, 2016, and 2020.
The 22A Judicial District encompasses Alexander County and Iredell County.
Underwood earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Appalachian State University in 1994. She later completed a J.D. at Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, in 2004.
After graduating from law school, Underwood entered into private practice, working as an associate in the Law Offices of Kenneth B. Darty. She remained with the firm until 2006, at which time she opened her own private practice. Underwood specialized in criminal and delinquency defense matters, representing parents in abuse, neglect, and dependency cases.
