The Hon. Chris E. Williams (Ret.) served as a judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit Court of Arkansas. Williams was elected to the bench in 2002. He resigned on March 30, 2024, amid investigations of judicial misconduct by the Arkansas Judicial Discipline & Disability Commission.
The 7th Judicial Circuit includes Grant and Hot Spring Counties.
Prior to his election, Williams presided as a judge for the Hot Spring County District Court, a position to which he was named in 1992. Before that, he was the City Attorney for the City of Malvern (1984 to 1992). Williams also worked as an attorney in private practice.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Henderson State University. Williams went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1981.
He chaired the Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission and was a president of the American Judges Association. Williams also sat as a councilman on the Malvern City Council (1981 to 1984).
He was born in Malvern, Arkansas. He and his wife, Marsha, have two sons.
