The Hon. Charles Cravins is a judge for the 27th Judicial District Court of Louisiana in St. Landry Parish. He was elected to the bench in 2023.
Cravins was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 2007.
Prior to attending law school, he served as chief administrative officer of the St. Landry Parish District Attorney’s Office, beginning in 1997. Several years later, Cravins started his legal career there as an assistant district attorney in 2007. He was later elevated to first assistant district attorney before his appointment to serve as the District Attorney for the Parish in 2020.
Cravins also taught as an adjunct professor at Southern University Law Center and spent more than thirty-three years as co-host of the “Cravins Brothers Zydeco and Information Show,” a radio program started in 1986 alongside his brother and nephew.
Early in his professional career, he was regional director and government affairs coordinator for the 4th Congressional District, and he previously owned an insurance agency. Cravins is also a veteran of the United States Army.
He is registered as a Democrat.
