The Hon. Charlene Charlet Day is a judge for the East Baton Rouge Parish Family Court in Louisiana. She was elected to the bench in 2011.
She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education (1974) and a master’s of education in supervision and administration (1980) from Louisiana State University. Day then completed a J.D. at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, in 1994.
After graduating from law school, she began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. William F. Kline, Jr., and the Hon. Wilson R. Ramshur of the 20th Judicial District Court. Prior to her election, Day had spent sixteen years in private practice, including at Myles, Cook & Day. Her practice emphasized family law matters.
Before pursuing her legal career, Day was an English and social studies teacher at Northwestern Middle School in Zachary, Louisiana, and a fourth-grade teacher at the Silliman Institute in Clinton, Louisiana. She was named Teacher of the Year at Northwestern Middle School and a finalist for East Baton Rouge Parish Teacher of the Year in 1988.
Her professional memberships include the Louisiana Bar Foundation, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (Board of Directors of the Louisiana Chapter), the Wex S. Malone American Inn of Court, and the Louisiana Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. From a civic standpoint, Day has been involved with the Zachary Chamber of Commerce, the Central Chamber of Commerce, the Capital City Republican Women, and the Republican Women of Central.
She attends St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary.
Day is registered as a Republican.
