Judge Carolyn L. McCaffrey: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Carolyn L. McCaffrey is a judge for the North Central Connecticut Probate Court (District 11) in Hartford County, Connecticut. She joined the bench in 2018.


Probate District 11 includes the towns of Enfield, Somers, Stafford, and Union.


In addition to sitting on the probate court, McCaffrey manages her own private practice, McCaffrey Law Firm, P.C. in Enfield. Her practice, which she opened in 2011, includes real estate transactions and general practice.


She received a B.S. in business and accounting from Bay Path University in 1996. McCaffrey went on to complete a J.D. at Western New England University School of Law in 2000. While a law student, she was a member of the Jessup International Moot Court Team.


She was admitted to practice in Connecticut (2001) and Massachusetts (2001).


Prior to opening her law firm, McCaffrey practiced as an associate at Frank P. Fitzgerald, P.C. in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Her practice focused on civil litigation, real estate transactions, collections, landlord/tenant matters, and personal injury.


Her memberships have included the Connecticut Probate Assembly (Public Information Committee), the National College of Probate Judges, the Hartford County Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, the Hampden County Bar Association, and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys.


McCaffrey has also been involved with the North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, the Enfield Rotary Club, and the Asnuntuck Community College Foundation (secretary).


She has taught as an adjunct professor at Bay Path University since 2018.
