The Hon. Carolyn E. Woodruff is a judge for the York County Probate Court in South Carolina. She was elected to the bench in 2010.
Prior to her election, Woodruff worked in private practice in Virginia and South Carolina (1983 to 2010). During that time, she spent eighteen years in practice at Harper & Rogers, P.A. (1992 to 2010). Her areas of practice include estates and trusts, probate litigation, land use regulation, and commercial and real estate matters. Woodruff also served as a Guardian ad Litem in Family Court DSS cases and provided pro bono legal services to children in foster care.
She received a bachelor’s degree in studio art from Mary Washington College. Woodruff then completed a J.D. at the University of Georgia School of Law in 1981. Woodruff was admitted to practice in South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia.
She was council chair of the Probate, Estates, and Trusts Section of the South Carolina Bar and served as a member of the study committee for the adoption of the South Carolina Trust Code. She later co-chaired its technical corrections committee and participated in revisions for the probate code. Woodruff is a past president of the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges.
She is the mother of two sons.
