Carol Swidler is an assistant deputy chief court attorney in the Second Judicial District in New York. She has held the position since January 2020.
Over the course of her career with the New York State Unified Court System, Swidler worked as a court attorney referee in the Post Judgement Matrimonial Part of the Westchester County Supreme Court (2019 to 2020), a supervising court attorney referee in the Matrimonial Part (2010 to 2018), a court attorney referee in the Compliance Part (2009 to 2010), a court attorney in the Westchester County Law Department (1991 to 2008), and a court attorney in the Trial Part of the Yonkers City Court (1990).
Swidler also worked as a law clerk with the Hon. George M. Bergerman in the Rockland County Supreme Court and the Hon. Samuel G. Fredman.
Swidler received a B.S. in dietetics and dental hygiene from the University of Maryland (1974) and an M.S. in nutrition from Rutgers University (1979). She then spent time as the chief renal nutritionist at Long Island Hospital (1980 to 1982) and as a doctoral candidate at New York University (1983) before completing a J.D. at Pace University, Elisabeth Haub School of Law in 1988.
She has taught as an adjunct instructor at William Paterson College and New York University and acted as a coordinator and panel speaker for several Continuing Legal Education programs.
Swidler received the Joseph F. Gagliardi Award for Excellence in 2018.
