Biography

Hon. Carmaine M. Sturino is a judge for the 3rd Judicial District Court of Minnesota in Houston County. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mark Dayton on September 17, 2015.


The 3rd Judicial District includes Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, Waseca, and Winona Counties.


Prior to her appointment, Sturino worked as an assistant public defender with the 3rd Judicial District and managed her own private practice. She was also a former assistant county attorney with the Winona County Attorney’s Office.


Sturino taught as an adjunct professor at Winona State University, St. Mary’s University, and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.


She received a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Sturino went on to complete a J.D. at Drake University School of Law. She also holds a Certificate of Legislative Practice from Drake Law School.


Sturino was admitted to practice in Minnesota (2001) and Wisconsin (2009).


She has served as a board member of the Minnesota District Judges Association and was a former secretary for the Winona County Bar Association.


In her free time, Sturino enjoys photography, farming, and fishing. She is also a 5K enthusiast.
