Hon. C. Michael Johnson is a judge for the Oconee Judicial Circuit Superior Court in Georgia. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Nathan Deal on December 10, 2013, filling a newly created position.
The Oconee Judicial Circuit is comprised of Bleckley, Dodge, Montgomery, Pulaski, Telfair, and Wheeler Counties.
Prior to his appointment, Johnson had presided as a municipal judge for the Cities of Eastman, Rhine, and Chauncy.
He also spent almost twenty-five years as a private practice attorney, including time as a sole practitioner in his own private practice. In addition, Johnson acted as an assistant attorney general for the Oconee Judicial Circuit.
He received a B.A. from Mercer University in 1983. Johnson went on to complete a J.D. at Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law in 1986.
He was admitted to practice in Georgia (1989), the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Court of Appeals of Georgia, and the Superior and State Courts of Georgia.
He has served as a member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia.
From a civic standpoint, Johnson was involved with the Eastman-Dodge County Chamber of Commerce and the Dodge County Hospital Foundation.
