The Hon. Bunkye Chi Olson is a commissioner for the Pima County Superior Court in Arizona. She was appointed to the bench on August 19, 2021, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Dean Christoffel.
Prior to her appointment, Olson was a deputy county attorney with the Pima County Attorney’s Office. During her tenure there, she held assignments in the Misdemeanor Crimes Division, prosecuting cases for its Felony Unit. Then, in 2003, she was assigned to the Special Victims Unit. She also performed two stints in the Juvenile Division (2010 to 2012, 2014 to 2021).
Olson earned a bachelor’s degree in English and paralegal studies from ​​James Madison University. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law.
Her memberships have included Arizona Law’s Board of Visitors. She has also been involved with Pima County’s Courts Are Us, Lawyers for Literacy, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters Mentor 2.0 Program.
