The Hon. Bruce C. Brown is a judge for the 18th Judicial District Court of Kansas. He was elected to the bench on November 4, 2008.
The 18th Judicial District encompasses Sedgwick County.
Prior to his election, Brown was a judge for the Wichita Municipal Court, a position to which he was named in 1997. Before that, he spent time as an assistant city attorney for the City of Wichita (1995 to 1997) and the City of Salina (1994 to 1995) as well as a judge advocate for the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps (1990 to 1994).
Brown earned a bachelor’s degree from Oral Roberts University in 1983. He then completed a J.D. at Pepperdine University, Rick J. Caruso School of Law, in 1986.
After graduating from law school, Brown began his legal career as an assistant district attorney with the 26th District Attorney’s Office in Woodward (Oklahoma). He served in that capacity until 1987, at which time he transferred to the 14th District Attorney’s Office in Tulsa. Then, in 1989, Brown entered into private practice at Pray Walker Jackman Williamson.
His memberships have included the Kansas Bar Association and the Wichita Bar Association.
He is registered as a Republican.
