The Hon. Bruce Bennett (Ret.) is a former judge for the 21st Judicial District Court of Louisiana. He was elected to the bench in 1988. Bennett retired in 2015.
The 21st Judicial District includes the Livingston, St. Helena, and Tangipahoa Parishes.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1973. Bennett then completed a J.D. at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, in 1975.
He is a veteran of the United States Air Force (1975 to 1979) and served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Bennett received the Meritorious Service Award.
His memberships include the Federal Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association.
Bennett identifies as a strict constructionist, holding to the idea that “truth is more important than advocacy.” He also supports the 2nd Amendment and is anti-abortion.
His wife, Linda, is a retired court reporter.
