The Hon. Brian A. McDaniel is a judge for the Southern Judicial Circuit Superior Court in Georgia. He was elected to the bench on May 20, 2014, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Frank Horkan.
Prior to his election, McDaniel worked for the Southern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office. He started as an assistant district attorney in 2001, rising through the ranks to become a senior assistant district attorney in 2008.
McDaniel earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, criminal justice, and history from Auburn University in 1992. He then completed a J.D. at Samford University, Cumberland School of Law in 1995.
After graduating from law school, McDaniel entered into private practice, working as an associate at Short & Fowler in Moultrie. Then, in 1998, he opened his own private practice as a partner at Weathers & McDaniel. He specialized in domestic litigation and criminal defense matters.
Raised in Albany, Georgia, McDaniel attended Westover High School.
