The Hon. Betty Capote-Erben is a judge for the Miami-Dade County Court in Florida. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott on November 30, 2012, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Cristina Miranda to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court.
Prior to her appointment, Capote-Erben was an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit. She worked in that capacity for thirteen years, rising through the ranks to become Chief of the Felony Division.
Capote-Erben earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida International University. She then completed a J.D. at University of Miami School of Law in 2001.
Her memberships have included the Hon. Peter T. Fay American Inn of Court and the Hispanic National Bar Association.
