Hon. Bennet A. Morris (Ret.) was a judge for the Montrose County Court in Colorado. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor John Hickenlooper in August 2012, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Jerry J. Montgomery (Ret.). Morris retired in 2022.
Prior to his appointment, he was a senior assistant city attorney for the City of Montrose since 2003. As such, Morris served as legal counsel to the City Council, senior staff, and the Planning Commission. Before his position there, he worked as an indemnity and claims evaluator at the Land Title Guarantee Company.
Morris received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Idaho College of Law in 2001.
He was admitted to practice in Colorado (2003) and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit (2003).
