The Hon. Barron L. Thompson is a judge for the Randolph County District Court in North Carolina. He was elected to the bench on November 3, 2020.
Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and secondary education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He spent the next few years teaching social studies at Eastern Guilford High School before completing a J.D. at Elon University School of Law in 2009.
After graduating from law school, Thompson entered into private practice, specializing in civil litigation matters in Asheboro.
His memberships have included the Randolph County Board of Elections. He has also been involved with the National Rifle Association and the North Carolina Association of District Court Judges.
Born and raised in North Carolina, Thompson identifies as a life-long conservative. He and his wife, Dr. Emily Houston Thompson, have two children and an English Cream Golden Retriever. The family attends Balfour Baptist Church. When not presiding over legal proceedings, Thompson enjoys camping, traveling, and spending time with his family.
