The Hon. Arnold O. Jones, II (Ret.) served as a judge for the Wayne County Superior Court in the 8th Judicial District of the 2nd Division in North Carolina. Jones was elected to the bench on November 4, 2008. He resigned after the conclusion of his term on November 8, 2016, when he failed to secure a re-election.
On March 16, 2017, Jones pled guilty to promising and paying gratuities to a public official. The guilty plea arose after Jones was caught offering money and cases of beer to a Federal Bureau of Investigation Task Force Officer in exchange for the act of compelling Verizon to produce his wife’s text messages. Jones was sentenced to two years probation, fined $5,000, and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.
Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986. He then completed a J.D. at Wake Forest University School of Law in 1989.
After graduating from law school, Jones began his legal career as an attorney in private practice in Goldsboro. He worked in that capacity until his election to the bench.
