Hon. Amy Lyn Blake is an associate justice of the Appeals Court in Massachusetts. She was appointed to its bench by former Governor Deval Patrick in 2014.
Prior to taking a seat on the Appeals Court, Blake had served as an associate justice of the Probate and Family Court in Essex County since receiving an appointment to the bench by then-Governor Patrick in 2008.
Blake received a B.A. from the University of Rochester in 1987. She went on to complete a J.D. from the New England School of Law in 1992. While in law school, Blake was named a New England Scholar. She also received the Amos L. Taylor Award for Excellence in Achievement.
After law school, Blake worked for two years as an assistant district attorney and victim’s advocate with the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office. She left her position there in 1994 to enter into private practice as an attorney at White, Inker & Aronson, P.C. (1994 to 2003). Blake then became a partner at Casner & Edwards, LLP in 2003, where she would remain until joining the Probate and Family Court. During her tenure in private practice, she served as a Guardian ad Litem, discovery master, and attorney for the child and conciliator, and her areas of practice included all aspects of domestic relations law.
Blake served on the Board of Editors of the Boston Bar Journal and as an associate editor of the Massachusetts Law Review. She was also a lecturer in law at New England Law Boston.
Her memberships included the Senior Partners for Justice, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Essex County Bar Association, and the Probate & Family Inns of Court.
Blake received the Jurist of the Year Award from the Middlesex County Bar Association (2017) and was named Distinguished Jurist by the Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers (2013).
