The Hon. Amy E. Lukasavitz is a judge for the 6th Judicial District Court of Minnesota. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Tim Walz on October 18, 2021, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Robert E. Macaulay.
The 6th Judicial District includes Carlton County, Cook County, Lake County, and St. Louis County.
Prior to her appointment, Lukasavitz was an assistant county attorney for the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office, where she handled juvenile delinquency, truancy, and estate recovery matters. Before that, she spent time as an assistant public defender for the 6th Judicial District Public Defender’s Office.
Lukasavitz earned a B.F.A. in theatre from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1994. She then completed a J.D. at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2007.
After graduating from law school, Lukasavtiz began her legal career as a court coordinator for the South St. Louis County DWI Court, the Family Dependency Treatment Court, and the South St. Louis County Mental Health Court.
Her memberships have included the Minnesota State Bar Association and the 11th District Bar Association. She has also been involved with Duluth Playhouse.
Lukasavitz was born and raised in Iron Range, Minnesota.
