Hon. Amiel J. Markenson is a judge for the 10th Judicial District Court of Colorado. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Jared Polis in 2019, filling the vacancy of a newly-created position.
The 10th Judicial District includes Pueblo County.
Prior to his appointment, Markenson served as a county court supervisor, a deputy state public defender, and a lead deputy state public defender with the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender since 2011.
He received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Markenson went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law.
He was admitted to practice in Colorado in 2011.
Markenson, who was raised in Highland Park, New Jersey, is a married father of two children. When not presiding over legal matters, he enjoys camping and skiing with his family.
