The Hon. Althea E. M. Drysdale is a Justice of the New York County Supreme Court, Criminal Term in the First Judicial District of New York. Justice Drysdale was originally appointed to serve as an interim judge for the Civil Court of the City of New York by Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2015 and was then subsequently appointed to the New York County Criminal Court by Mayor de Blasio in 2016.
She received her bachelor’s degree and a master's degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She went on to earn her J.D. from Syracuse College of Law in 1987.
Before becoming a judge, Drysdale served as a senior trial attorney for the New York County Defender Services. Prior to that, she was a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society.
Justice Drysdale was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica.
