Appointed By: Board of Yakima County Commissioners
Hon. Alfred G. Schweppe is a judge for the Yakima County District Court in Washington. He was appointed to the bench by the Board of Yakima County Commissioners in 2013. He filled the vacancy created by the appointment of the Hon. Doug Federspiel to the Yakima County Superior Court.
In addition to presiding over the District Court, the judges in Yakima County also preside over the Union Gap Municipal Court (Yakima County District Court), Moxee Municipal Court (Yakima County District Court), Grandview Municipal Court (Grandview District Court), and Mabton Municipal Court (Grandview District Court) as well as a second court location in the Grandview District Court.
He received a B.A. from Seattle University in 1983. Schweppe then completed a J.D. at Seattle University School of Law in 1991.
Prior to his appointment, he worked for several years as a deputy prosecuting attorney with the Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (1995 to 2001) before becoming an attorney at Meyer, Fluegge & Tenney P.S. in 2002. He was a partner in the firm at the time of his appointment.
Schweppe also sat as a pro tem judge in the Yakima County District and Superior Courts and the Yakima Municipal Court.
His memberships included the Yakima County Bar Association and the Washington State Bar Association.
