Judge Albert S. Camplese: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Albert S. Camplese is a judge for the Probate and Juvenile Division of the Ashtabula County Court of Common Pleas in Ohio. He was elected to the bench on November 4, 2014.


Under his leadership, the Ashtabula County Juvenile Court is currently participating in the Statewide System Reform Program, a federal initiative that seeks to identify ways to increase the capacity of family drug courts to more effectively service all families in the child welfare system. Similarly, the Ashtabula County Probate Court has expanded the Ashtabula Senior Advocacy and Protection Network and is working to establish a Guardian Angels Program for adults and seniors.


Prior to his election, Camplese presided as a judge for the Ashtabula Municipal Court, a position to which he was selected in 1993. He was recognized for implementing unique and innovative programs during his tenure on the Ashtabula Municipal Court.


Camplese earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Ohio Northern University in 1980. He then completed a J.D. at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1985.


After graduating from law school, Camplese entered into private practice, where he worked for the next eight years. He supplemented his practice with service as an assistant city solicitor for the City of Ashtabula Law Department.


His memberships have included the American Judges Association, the Ashtabula County Bar Association, the Ohio Bar Association, the Ohio Association of Probate Judges, the Northeast Ohio Judges Association (president), and the Ohio Association of Municipal and County Court Judges (trustee).
